It appears that there may be a delay in payments for the 2015-2016 Aid to Publishers program.

The good news is that the program is going ahead and the amounts should be similar to the previous year. And there will be additional time given to member publishers to complete and return the applications for funding.

Here is what Newspapers Canada CEO John Hinds had to say about the program:

“They have not released the guidelines and application forms for 2015-2016 yet and hope to have them out before the end of the year. The department will be providing 4-6 weeks for completion. They stressed that there are no issues about the program or the amounts, as it is in their budget, but that the delay may mean that the funds will be sent later.

We are not sure what the hold up is, though we expect it is the Minister’s Office.”
