Please make a note of the following times for AWNA’s Convention/ Symposium 2017

For those who are attending AWNA’s convention, June 2 and 3 at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino, here is a brief outline of the times:

Friday, June 2

9 am                Registration desk opens

10 am              AGM begins

10:30 am         Doug Griffiths kicks off with his presentation on ’13 Ways to Kill your Community’.

11:30               Lunch. All luncheon delegates should be seated by 11:45 am. A Panel Discussion with Government MLA’s on Community Journalism and its importance to the communities it serves will begin at around 12:15.

MLA attendees and AWNA panelists include: Calgary-Mackay-Nose Hill MLA Karen McPherson; Calgary-Shaw MLA Graham Sucha and Calgary North West MLA Sandra Jensen, along with Doug Griffiths, AWNA President Dave Bruha and Government Affairs Chair Duff Jamison.

1:30 pm           The AGM reconvenes.

2 pm                Scott Murray, CEO Clear Picture will take members through steps involved with local reader survey. He will talk about how members can leverage the online survey product to an additional revenue source.

6 pm                Cash bar reception followed by BNC Awards presentations.

Saturday, June 3

7:15 am            Breakfast

8:30 –             Sessions by Joe Banks, Randy Shoults, Kevin Slimp

11:45 am

11:45 am          Lunch.

1:30 –              Sessions by Joe Banks, Randy Shoults, Kevin Slimp

4:45 pm

6:30 pm           President’s reception followed by President’s banquet.

A hospitality suite hosted by the AWNA will follow after the banquet and Pluck A Duck fundraiser.
