The AWNA has decided to add its voice to a growing chorus that implores the Government of Canada to intervene in Google and Facebook’s domination of the digital media landscape.

We ask member newspapers to publish an open letter to the federal government (below) that impels them to act, making sure the duopoly pays for copyrighted content and shares the billions of ad dollars that flow from it.

It is entirely your decision to publish this appeal.

If you decide to do so, we encourage you to also share the letter with your MP.

The bigger issue here is that we want to spark a discussion around the revenue losses threatening the survival of newspapers and what can and should be done about it.

To download a copy of the ad, please click on the link below.  There are several sizes to choose from and it has been designed for you to fit into whatever space you are able to allocate to this message.  Please note the instruction about adding your name and the name of your newspaper at the bottom of the ad.
