The deadline date for BNC entries has been extended to Friday, February 7. Please make sure your entries have been received by Central Office by this date. Thank you.

PHOTO awards –   for photos that appeared in 2019 editions.

WRITING awards – for stories, columns, series and special sections that appeared in 2019 editions

ADVERTISING awards  – colour, design and series categories.

Please pass this one along even if you use a centralized production department that builds ads for other papers in your group, and encourage your ad builders/ sales reps to submit their work. We find these three categories aren’t getting the attention that they deserve.  An award here may help sell another advert!

General Excellence Awards entry info is here.   This is the one where you mail in your copies, so get those postmarked before January 31st.

BNC Awards of Excellence info is found here.    There’s quite a few categories, so read through the booklet for details, and don’t forget to share a copy with sales, production and reporters.     We’re excited to have Genome Alberta sponsoring a second category this year – not only the Best Ag Supplement award but also adding the Healthy Communities Journalism award.  Winners in each receive $500; $100 for 2nd place and 3rd place

Photographic awards    The details and categories can be read here.     Two entries allowed for each category.  Upload JPGs for all categories but one (the multi-photo category).      An important thing to remember -> be sure to crop them first so they best represent how you used them in print.  You want to show the judge what you showed your readers. It can make a big difference in the impact of your photo.
