Edmonton Mayor weighs in with Minister Guilbeault

Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson has sent a letter to Heritage Minister Guilbeault, urging the federal government to move quickly to pass legislation to ensure a healthy news ecosystem.  In his letter, Iveson laments the dwindling of the press complement that covers City Hall.  He also has urged municipal councils across Canada to endorse legislation and regulations at the federal level.
 
Iveson has shared his letter with municipalities that surround Edmonton.

News Media Canada’s CEO Paul Deegan is getting in touch with the Canadian Chambers of Commerce to ask for a similar show of support from Chambers across the country.
