The Ontario Community Newspapers Association is currently seeking judges for its 2023 Better Newspapers Competition.
Judging contributions are invaluable to our awards program. Without judges, we would have no awards program!!
Please consider supporting weekly community newspapers in Ontario as they strive to be the best they can be!
We currently have the following categories available. If interested, please email Karen Shardlow at k.shardlow@ocna.org with your top three choices, and I will do my best to match you with one of them.
Premier:
Arts & Entertainment (24 entries)
Education Writing (21 entries)
Environment Ontario (25 entries)
Health & Wellness (21 entries)
Diversity Coverage (21 entries)
Best Website, circ under 9,999 (10 entries)
Best Online Experience (5 entries) (different formats incl 2 videos)
Judging will begin December 18th, 2023 and must be completed no later than January 23rd, 2024.
Finalists will be listed in alphabetical order on our website on February 14th, 2024.
Winners will be announced at our Awards Presentation in the spring.
All entries are now submitted as a pdf or url link.
All categories are judged online through our Better Newspaper Contest Website.
Complete instructions will be forwarded with the judging package.
Judging will include supplying comments for the top three and any honourable mentions and overall comments about the category entries.
You will also be asked to provide a headshot and short bio for our awards booklet.
