ISWNE Golden Quill award – submit your entries
Dear Editors (and editorialists),
Please consider submitting your best opinion pieces for the Golden Quill Award, presented annually by the International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors.
In addition to the Golden Quill, ISWNE celebrates a dozen other writers every year for outstanding submissions. The Golden Quill and the Golden Dozen are prestigious recognition for the important work done by community newspapers—raising issues, asking questions, and promoting discussion amongst readers.
Canadian editors are also considered for the annual Brian Mazza Memorial Scholarship, which offers a one-year ISWNE membership and free attendance at the annual conference. The scholarship honours the late Brian Mazza, former editor of The Mountaineer in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and a past president of ISWNE.
The 2025 ISWNE conference will be in Brookings, South Dakota July 9 – 13. More information is at iswne.org.
I’d love to see strong entries from Western and Northern Canada for the 2025 Golden Quill Award, and I’d love to see one or more of “ours” in the Golden Dozen. Remember, the entry deadline is February 1.
