Classroom complexity team allocations
The latest round of classroom complexity team allocations is available online, identifying the new teams that will support schools for the 2026-27 school year.

Alberta’s government recently announced a $100-million investment to help schools respond to growing classroom complexity. Information is now available online showing the number of new complexity teams that will be added in each school authority to support students and teachers across Alberta.

The $100-million investment includes $75 million to support 223 new complexity teams, including 160 teams for grades 7-12 and 63 new K-6 teams. The remaining $25 million will improve access to specialized supports in rural and remote communities and provide targeted training to help educators respond to increasingly complex classroom environments.

Classroom complexity teams provide school-based supports that help teachers respond to behavioural, learning and safety needs in the classroom. All public, separate and francophone school authorities will receive at least one additional complexity team. Larger boards will receive additional teams based on enrolment and measures of complexity.

The information posted online shows how many new K-6 and grades 7-12 complexity teams each school authority will receive as schools prepare for the 2026-27 school year.
