Faces of Wellness program seeks Albertans who champion wellness
NEWS RELEASE
September 9, 2026 For immediate release
Alberta Blue Cross® is looking to recognize Albertans who are advocates for wellness in their communities through its annual Faces of Wellness program. And this year for the first time, the program prizing will include donations to registered Canadian charities of the recipients’ choosing.
Each year, Faces of Wellness recognizes everyday Albertans who inspire wellness in their workplaces and communities or who are making positive changes in their own lives to be more well. Whether they’re championing mental health, creating more inclusive spaces, supporting others through lived experience or helping people live healthier lives, their actions make a difference.
“Last year we received almost 300 diverse nominations and applications from across the province for Faces of Wellness,” says Brian Geislinger, senior vice-president of Corporate Relations and Community Engagement with Alberta Blue Cross. “Everyone knows someone who is a face of wellness, so this year we’re calling on all Albertans to nominate someone deserving of this recognition.”
Albertans are encouraged to apply or nominate someone they know to be recognized as a face of wellness for a chance to win prizes including the grand prize of $2,500 plus $1,000 donated to a registered Canadian charity of their choice, made on their behalf by Alberta Blue Cross. The deadline to apply for Faces of Wellness is October 29, 2026, and program recipients will be announced in January.
The grand prize recipient of the 2025 Faces of Wellness program was Gillian Hatto. Gillian is the founder of Hazel’s Heroes, a retreat for grieving mothers that provides a safe, compassionate space for healing, honouring loved ones and connecting with others who understand their grief. An additional 10 inspiring honourees were also recognized through the 2025 program, including Michelle Denise Fuller, a cancer survivor and wellness advocate who stays active to move forward; and Dennis Walton, a community leader and wellness advocate working to reduce financial barriers.
