13 Ways to Kill your Community

“The non-fiction book that I co-authored with MLA Doug Griffiths, “13 Ways to Kill Your Community” is being launched next month and I am interested to hear from any editors that would like a review copy in advance.
About three years ago Clemmer and Griffiths decided to become partners in creating this book after Kelly heard Doug give his motivational speech of the same name. Together they worked at taking the speech and adding new stories and to broaden the themes to write this book. 13 Ways will make you laugh, it might make you cry, and no doubt it will make you mad as you identify what some people are doing to sabotage your community.
All of the stories and examples are actual examples collected from Doug’s travels while giving the speech, 13 Ways to Kill Your Community and while writing Alberta’s Rural Development Strategy. The book is not truly about how to kill your community but how you can identify all of the negative attitudes that infiltrate all organizations, and turn them around into a successful mindset. The book is also not just about turning around our rural towns and villages, but has truths and insights that can turn around ANY community club or organization, business, volunteer body, community league, or professional organization. The truths about what groups do to sabotage their own success and how to turn it around apply to a wide variety of groups.
Hopefully you will all have a chance to read it and review it in your publications. It’s about how to (and how not to) kill rural communities, organizations and just about anything that the wrong attitude will do to unintentionally sabotage themselves.
