FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 2, 2025

Okotoks, AB – Big Rock Power has announced that members in its Solar Club program are now receiving 33 cents per kilowatt-hour for any electricity being sent to the grid. It’s a move that will strengthen the economics of solar energy generation across Alberta and accelerate the payback on all installed systems.

The Solar Club, launched in 2019, has steadily grown and today represents more than one-third of all installed solar panels in Alberta. The program allows members to earn a higher income for the excess power they produce and send to the provincial grid.

“This is about making sure that Albertans who invest in solar are fairly compensated for the clean electricity they generate,” said Larry Peters, President of Big Rock Power. “We’ve seen tremendous growth in solar adoption in Alberta, and the Solar Club has played an important role in that story.”

Alberta has one of the fastest-growing solar markets in Canada, with homeowners, farms, and businesses installing panels at record levels. The Solar Club has been designed to improve payback periods for those solar panel investments and is helping to accelerate further growth in the province’s renewable sector.

Big Rock Power has been an Alberta-based electricity retailer since 2011, offering a range of pricing programs to consumers across the province. The Solar Club remains one of its most popular initiatives, combining financial incentives with support for Alberta’s transition to renewable energy.
