Premier Smith: Do the right thing.

Attached is an op ed piece from Thomas Lukaszuk on behalf of the Forever Canadian petition and movement.

Close to 500,000 Albertans have sent a clear message – Alberta’s future lies with Canada.

What happens next is completely in the Premier’s hands. Despite what she may say, there is no requirement for a referendum. The decision is hers to make.

The Premier has two clear choices.

She can take the politically expedient route. Put her party first, hold a highly divisive and destructive referendum, all so she can appease the separatists, including those in the UCP party, and say she did what they wanted.

Or she can do the right thing. Stand up for Alberta’s future in Canada. Call a vote in the Legislative Assembly, a vote we know would pass. End the threats of separatism and let Albertans get on with building a strong and prosperous future within Canada.

Close to half a million proud Albertans are urging Premier Smith to do the right thing. We hope she’s listening.
