Apply now for the Alberta Blue Cross® Built Together grant program.

Alberta Blue Cross’s Built Together grant program is now accepting 2026 applications.

Built Together encourages active living in Alberta by awarding $50,000 grants annually to a healthy living infrastructure project in each of the following communities in the province: Edmonton, Calgary, a secondary city, a rural community and an Indigenous community.

“Over the past 13 years, the Alberta Blue Cross Built Together program has provided $3 million in grant funding to upwards of 60 projects across Alberta to advance active living—but also to provide a place for social connection for these communities,” says Brian Geislinger, senior vice-president of Corporate Relations and Community Engagement with Alberta Blue Cross. “We know the demand for this program continues to be high, so we’re excited to continue it for 2026.”

Non-for-profit organizations, municipalities, schools and community groups are eligible for the grant program and encouraged to apply. From skating rinks and walking trails to parks and outdoor gyms, Built Together creates spaces for active living. Apply for Built Together until September 17, 2026, through the Alberta Blue Cross community website.

The Built Together grant program received 134 applications in 2025, an increase from 115 applications the previous year.

One of the many organizations that has benefited from this program is Coach Hill Patterson Heights Community Association in Calgary, which received a Built Together grant to build an outdoor activity hub featuring a multi-use sports court. The association involved the community in the project by hearing residents’ ideas about how they wanted to use the space.

Funding for Built Together comes from the Alberta Blue Cross community foundation and applications are evaluated by a panel of experts and against other applications from the same award category.

More information about the program is available on the Alberta Blue Cross community website.
