Member News: Star Press receives “ultraviolet is THE FUTURE OF NEWSPAPERS” Award for Excellence

The Web Offset Association of the Printing Industries of America, at their annual May conference, in Baltimore honored Star Press of Wainwright, Alberta with a first place award of excellence for web offset printing using UV inks on Newsprint for North America.

Star Press president Roger Holmes accepted the award and was one of the speakers at the conference on the topic of using ultra violet light to cure inks in the printing of newspapers. Star Press is a leader in North America using the UV technology in newspapers which brings higher quality color reproduction to its 50 weekly newspaper clients in Western Canada and the NWT. Star Press prints over 1,000,000 community newspapers each month. The winning entry was printed for a client newspaper, Connect in For McMurry, Alberta, late last year.

Pleased by the award Holmes credits the growth of Star Press to his staff and using UV technology.
