While researching ad network solutions for managing online advertising campaigns, I’ve come across one company that posts to an interesting blog called Run of Network. They are using this to educate both publishers and advertisers on the ins and outs of online advertising (and hoping you’ll use their tool for serving those ads) There’s some good stuff here for novices and not-so-novices. They do need an editor, and a proof-reader, and a grammar checker, but if you are forgiving, there are some good chunks of information (and opinion) here

Under Terminology find: What does CPM mean and what can I expect?

Under “Tales from an Ad Salesman” find: Does Your Media Kit Tell A Story? and Free Ad Creation Tools for Do-It-Yourself Creatives

And part one of a series that is calling for more: So You Wanna Know About Online Ads

Maybe test out the Publisher Calculator – that takes pages views, and rates, and costs – to tell you just how much profit you should expect from your site/network of sites.
